Special Delivery San Diego has been saving lives and filling bellies with nourishment since 1991. We are a non-profit organization, and our staff is 100% volunteer! We currently cook and deliver our fresh, homemade and nutritious meals to 130+ individuals and families five days a week! At Special Delivery we provide these meals to people living with critical illnesses & to people medically homebound throughout the San Diego community. Our all-volunteer staff helps us to keep overhead at a minimum so that we can continue to guarantee that a least 91 cents of every dollar you donate is put directly into meals and care for our clients. Commitment 2: Quality of Life Our clients are our family & we do all we can to provide for their health and well being. Along with meals Monday through Friday, we shop our pantry to fill grocery bags for the weekends. We always provide healthy foods & do our best to consistently provide other necessities such as toilet paper, paper towels & personal hygiene items. Donations of such items are always welcome and appreciated.
Commitment 1: Quality Meals Food is life for our clients who cannot afford or are too weak to cook for themselves. Therefore we cook organic when possible & make our homemade meals from scratch. We also provide FRESH wholesome vegetables and fruits with each daily delivery and in each weekend grocery bag.
